3 Kinds of FUN in Scouting
Why do we "Scout"? What is T204's "Special Sauce"?
We like to Hike, Backpack, Kayak/Canoe, Sail, Climb & Rappel, Ski, Shoot at Targets 🎯, Snorkel, Go Rafting, Play Risk & other games, Scuba, Build Fires & Eat S'mores, Camp Out MONTHLY, Play Gaga & Spike Ball, Compete at Mountain Man, Swim, Do our part to Reduce Food Insecurity, Learn from/Help One Another, Shoot Some Hoops, Leverage Our Individual Superpowers To Make Our Patrols (Teams) Stronger, Follow the Path to Eagle, attend NYLT (youth-led leadership training), Cook, EAT, and Choose Our Own Adventures ⚜️.
We are Inclusive, Curious, Service-Oriented, Diverse in ALL ways, Welcoming, Kind of Goofy, "Like a Family", Scout/Youth-Led and we learn to balance Scouting with our many other commitments and priorities. We value serving our communities (while also earning lots of SSL hours), and many of us take the commitment further and become EAGLE SCOUTS. However, that's not the purpose of Scouting. Scouting is a "Game with a Purpose" - it has to be FUN! The Aims of Scouting (Character Development, Citizenship/Service, Leadership, Life-Long Fitness) go beyond building outdoor skills & adventures.
Our scouts report that they feel comfortable asking questions and getting help from adult leaders and senior scouts. We strive To Do Our Part (Everyone pitches in - after all, it's Our Troop) & Foster a Culture of Kindness & Mutual Respect. We try to be mindful of the SCOUT Oath & Law in all circumstances. That's Scout Spirit!
At least half of our scouts had never camped before or participated in Cub Scouts, and that's okay! Everyone gets the opportunity to explore new interests, grow in our love and stewardship of the outdoors, and get to live experiences & build skills that would have been harder to obtain without scouting. We find gear to lend to new scouts, we aim to make the scouting program accessible. Everyone grows ALL the time.
